It's Been a Year Since Walter Becker Reeled in the Years

It's hard to believe, but a year has passed since Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker died. Although no cause of death was immediately given, a couple of months after his death his widow issued a statement explaining that Becker was diagnosed with an aggressive form of esophageal cancer and died just four months after it was diagnosed. A relatively quiet summer turned into a brutal autumn after that, with the loss of the likes of Tom Petty, Gord Downie, Mel Tillis, Don Williams, David Cassidy, and AC/DC's Malcolm Young (and his brother, George, who produced early AC/DC albums). Last month seemed to indicated that we're going to follow a similar pattern this year, with three Hall of Famers (two rock and one blues) dying. Donald Fagen continues touring as Steely Dan, as would have been Becker's wishes. But for me, Steely Dan don't live in that New York City no more. Some great Steely Dan:
Daddy don't live in that New York City No more He don't celebrate Sunday on a Saturday night No more Daddy don't need no lock and key For the piece he stowed...

I don't know why they tour as the Who or Steely Dan or AC/DC when they are not that anymore.

Add the Eagles to that. As you say, it’s Don Henley and Friends. They could call it the Wh, or C/D now.
