On the second day of vacation we went and see the falls at Sioux Falls Park. The photo from Part 1 is at the park. The river and the falls are right in the middle of the city and is a very beautiful place to check out. There is a tower you can go up in for free and see all the falls and some of the surrounding area. The park is also free to go into. We ended up spending about 1.5 to 2 hours there just checking it out and relaxing a while before heading out on our next part of the journey. We drove about 300 miles west to Wall, SD, which is just outside of the Badlands National Park. Along the way there were a ton of billboards on the side of the road for a place called Wall Drug. Way back in the 1800's it started as a place you could get free ice water (you can still get free ice water today) it was a general store and drug store back then. There were so many of the billboards along the road we decided we had to see this place when we got there. We were laughing about the signs cause they were always like one or two words followed by "Wall Drug", like Burgers, Wall Drug, Have Fun, Wall Drug, 5c Coffee, Wall Drug. I'm not sure why but we found it funny and read everyone out loud as we seen them. After 200 miles of these signs we finally got to the exit where it was and there was this huge sign that said in big bold letters "Don't miss it, Wall Drug". That was the exit we needed to take anyways. We decided even though the plan was to camp in our tent that night, they were calling for some storms, we found a local motel for the night. We check in there and headed to Wall Drug. Being as it was around since the late 1800's I was hoping to really see some history stuff but There was not much. It was mostly a tourist trap. They did however have free ice water but we didn't locate the 5 cent coffee. I can't say they didn't have it cause neither my son or I drink coffee so we didn't look that hard for it. We decided to have dinner at this place called The Red Rock Restaurant. My son had the turkey club sandwich and I had the buffalo burger. The place was small and quite, the waitress was friendly and the food was great. Where I live you can not find places that have buffalo burgers so I was very happy to be able to get one. The motel called The Welsh Motel was nothing fancy but it was a clean quite place to stay. I liked that it was family owned and run, the sister of the owner was working when we checked in and she was friendly and took time to tell us about the motel and the town. We went and took some pictures of the Badlands that evening (see the picture) it is $20 per car to get into the Badlands but that is a week long pass. We drove around the place checking it out for a few hours till the sun started to set and we headed back to the motel. Day 2 was a lot of fun, even the drive was fun as we joked and talked the whole way.
