Do planks help?

I have been thinking of doing workout at home and I have heard from my friends that planks help to reduce the overall weight to a huge extent. But am not sure because I never tried it. So have started doing it from 2-3 days. Let's see if it will work.
What do you think? Does it really helps?

Planks are really good and if you are doing right, those abs will get sore fast, a good thing.

Try it my friend but it turn out flunk, maybe you need to start in calisthenics

Simpler than planks, more like stretching but really good for exercise. You can see more of this in youtube.

Yes I have heard they are good all you can do is give them a try and see how it goes.
