A middle age man came to apply for a job at 1044pm last night. I replied with the usual you can leave a resume (his reply I didn't bring one but I can leave my number). So I got him to write doen and brief description of the job overall. In that frame he was very pushy and kept telling me to call the manager then accused me of lying that I was the manager since he was new to the country. Frankly I had no idea since where we are located at work it's very mixed and many are closed minded they stick to their culture so being here 10 minutes or 20 years are the same. I told him to call 5am to 1pm tomorrow as that's when the manager works. He spent a good 15 minutes loaded trying to argue. One thing because we close at 11pm (not open midnights), how I had no idea about the owner (I do but it doesn't matter), or how paying under the table (most likely he's either illegally here or isn't a Canadian citizen - I believe you have 5 years you can be in the country and not working or taking jobs from a canadian). So I finally said I'm closing you need to leave and repeated call tomorrow 5am to 1pm. He finally backed down and left. Today I come in and here for several hours. Yet, who walks in the door at 330pm yet Mr desperate He then starts pestering me for the manager. He starts yelling at me because he drove from the city to meet him. I reply did you call and set up a time. He goes no I expect him to be here. I go yes between 5am to 1pm like I told you yesterday. He kept telling me to call the manager I said sorry he finished at 1pm and won't answer unless the builds up in flames. I'm sorry if your like this before a job then you will be worse after. Hate to burst his bubble but he won't be hired u already left a note for the manager and explained how he annoyed me so they won't hire him.

It's a good thing he revealed his true character before your company hired him.

Yes, I agree. I told the manager I was very uncomfortable.

Is that how you approach a staff from a company you are seeking employment? Who will even hire you?

Weirdly! I have had this several times with people applying. I state the manager in during the day so I will leave the resume for him. They start screaming and demanding the manager (they can't understand you work alone).

@ricki_911 They don't know that you have a big role in whether they will be hired or not

I'm curious what industry you work in because, seriously, who goes applying for jobs at nearly 11PM -- unless it's by appointment to meet with someone for a night shift position?

On work at a gas station. Yes, it is weird!! I texted a friend as I'm more the off type. I tend to stick online not pester the store ( as I know the cashier won't know).

you already explained everything to him and repeatedly, but he sounds like a very bossy person who wants his way all the time, so imagine what kind of a co-worker he would be.
