Poetry: A Mother’s love lasts forever. There's never a day it’s away.

The love of a mother for her children is one of the greatest loves possible

Each mother sits on love, and hatches a new piece of creation. The energy of love brings plain matter to life, because of God, but God’s role is to plant the love in each soul, not to write its scroll. Mothers grow this love to its proper role of wholeness in her child, when that child feels her greatness of love for it, and it then smiles. We can feel beguiled, to a state exiled, until we let ourselves be so styled. A mother’s hand is on each heart that beats outside of her now. It never leaves you, as her gentle caress, calmly wipes your brow. A mother’s love surges through us, not making waves, but peace. A mother’s death is the cruellest blow to each child she’s born. And yet, there is still only compassionate thoughtfulness of caring, in her heart. She wishes us no pain, but tries to hide her own, even as she dies. Yes, a mother has so much love for her children and does everything she can to protect her children from harm. The picture you chose is very appropriate as it reminded of Jesus when he said that like a mother hen that gathers her chicks under its wing to protect them so he wanted to protect the Jewish nation but they did not want it. God loves us so much but if we reject his love then we are in deep trouble. (See Matthew 23:37-38)

@innertalks Yes, we should stay close to God just like the sheep needs to stay close to the shepherd for safety and protection.

@1hopefulman And if we think about it, it should be easy to stay close to someone who loves us so much.

Yes, Jesus also used the image of a sheep, or lamb, frequently too, under the care of the good shepherd. The chicken and our souls are safe from marauding wolves under our father's wings, for the Devil dare not approach God, in any real way then, except as God, allows him to do so, at times. We should do the same, as it says there, in that Bible verse, to come to God in his way, the way of the Lord, in his name. “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'”

Yes, thank-you. A mother's love is very beautiful, and that's why I tried to do my best with this poem. My own mother has terminal cancer now. The poem was inspired by the great sadness that I also feel right now. She was sent home to my sister's place, as the cancer is at an advanced stage, and there is nothing they can do for her at her age, they said. She has been given a short time to live.

@Starmaiden Yes, it is sad, as she has led a relatively healthy life up to a few months ago. It's oesophagus cancer, but it has spread to the stomach and lungs already too. She is on a fluid diet only right now. I am sorry about your mother too. Cancer is still a big killer in the world.

Maternal love is always the greatest. Mom's love is selfless.

Yes, I agree with you there. The degree of selflessness of a mother's love never ceases to amaze me.

A mother is most special as she initiates us to love and lives by it. Her care and concern for her child are above everyone else's. Whatever happens in our world, mother's love remains pristine - siva

Thanks siva. Yes, a mother's love is always pure, or pristine like you said there. “All the forces on this planet, will never beat that of a mother's love.” Elle Smith, from her book, "The Way Back Home"

@Shiva49 It goes the other way around too. I still feel like a boy, or a child, when I am around my mum, and I am already over 60...LOL...
