Never A Dull Moment

Let me give you just a little bit of background so that we will all be on the same page here for this little tale. My mother is working for the company I work for as the cleaning lady. It is a side gig. They pay her pretty well, it does not take long to clean the office, and she likes the extra money. The office is in Illinois. I am currently in Wisconsin on business. One of my co-workers is traveling in Chicago. A text comes over my phone which is addressed to all of us in the office (there are 4 of us) to let us know that our alarm system has gone off and the police have been called are on the way. My co-worker who is in Chicago calls me (the other two must not have seen their phones yet) and asks if I can go to the office and see what is going on with the alarm. "I am still in Wisconsin." It clicks and he feels stupid. BUT, I put two and two together and figure my mother must have went to the office to clean. Sure enough. I tell her, shut the door and hit the reset button until a light blinks, and then type in the code to reset the system. "Should I be inside or outside when I do this?" "Mother, the keypad is inside I suggest you be inside if you want to type in the code." She shuts the door and types the code and the system resets but the police still show up. I have no idea what she did. But either way, I swear, there is never a dull moment with my mother.

In the end things ended well and nobody got hurt, or arrested. Imagine having to bail mom out of jail.

In the end it was. But it makes for a heck of a story to tell.

nice that your mom also works there. And your alarm system is good because it works.

She must have wondered where the "fire" in the office came from

She was terrified. She was like, "are they going to arrest me?" lol. I said no. Not unless you are in the wrong. This is just a mixup. They will understand.
