Strong rains and winds do come intermittently here in my place, maybe due to the typhoon that is hovering in the skies. How is your Wednesday, fellow users of this site? My sister is in her room elevating her lower limbs because she has left pedal fluid retention (edema), and she knows the reason why, but she told me a few minutes ago that last night, she wanted to wake me up to complain about the edema. I responded to her that I cannot do anything about that except advise her to elevate her legs and increase her oral fluid intake. So, I stood in front of our dining table searching for something to eat. I then saw this red plastic bag with a bag of dates that was given by my sister-in-law. I took 3 pieces and ate it. The dates are soft and the seeds are small. I am having an advance thinking that maybe my poop will be soft, because dates are somewhat stool softeners. Persons with heart ailments should have soft stools. This is to prevent the heart from exerting too much effort in depositing the well-formed stool into the toilet bowl. Do you like eating dates?

i wonder, are the dates cooked or roasted? or are they freshly picked, kept, and packed until they assume a wrinkled covering? hahaha

I like dates, but I almost never eat dates. They are only available around the Christmas holidays here.

really? here, when it is Christmas, the fruit or nuts that many would like to have on their dining tables is chest nut, and although i have tasted these nuts, i think i have already forgotten how it tastes now. my mother would usually ask me to buy chestnuts whenever i come home for vacation from Kuwait.

@LadyDuck it was another type of nuts that i bought in the international airport here, thought these were chestnuts. when my mother said they were not, we still enjoyed the nuts. we were able to buy chestnuts in a local grocery store here.

The two bags of dates are still in our refrigerator, untouched. None in my family likes dates. They were given to us by my sister-in-law.

i think giving bags of dates from persons who work and toured in the middle east is already considered their usual gifts. bags of dates are usually what my sister-in-law gives us when she comes home from UAE.

Oh yes, I love eating those. But I seldom buy them because they are expensive. Instead I buy raisins which is a bit cheaper. It is also good for our metabolism.

indeed, my lady. prunes, raisins, and dates i believe have high potassium content and have laxative effects.

@ridingbet Yes, here they are expensive. You're lucky you get them as tokens. Tasty cakes can be made with them.

really, dates are expensive there? there are some palm trees of dates in the house of the president of the school where i am employed at, and i have seen these fruits still hanging in the tree. i do not expect though it is costly; well, maybe because we don't buy dates here but these are just given as tokens.

I was once given a pack of dates one time because it has a lot of benefits as they say. But I don't like the taste even if it's sweetened.

I adore dates but here they are rather hard to find dear friend. Yes I read this about dates they are very good for a laxative effect. I am sorry to know your sister is suffering the edema. It is okay here it is early yet and I am a bit sad thinking of various people.

yes, my sister is always complaining about her body image as having the swollen limbs, and i always explain to her that the signs are due to her sickness and she just has to change her lifestyle so she won't complain much about it.
