This is Carinio Mansion. Heroine Gabriela Silang, wife of Philippine hero Diego, used to live here when she was still a young lady. Her middle name is Carinio. The old mansion house was built during the Spanish occupoation in the country. Compared to other wooden old house, this one is more majestic, grandeur, fit for gobernador cillo or even gobernador heneral of that time. This is also larger and wider compare to other old wooden Spanish house. The house was never inhabited for many years. And as it age it become vulnerable, weak and breakable. The present descendants said there live a ghost. Until the National Historical Commission give importance to renovate the old house, earmarking funds for the said purpose. With the renovation it will become the museum of Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.

@ilocosboy really? then the surrounding houses should also look like those of the 18th century to make the view and ambiance more authentic.

It will not, the restoration is costly because NHCP wants the old house to be like it was in 18th century.

I'm more worried about the ghost. The construction workers will disturb his silence.

There was a story in this house. A TV news reporter was making documentary of this house but during the filming the video camera wont turn on, they tried many times to no avail. When the caretaker talked to the ghosts and said "please let the video document the house because it will be used to their story". After a few seconds the camera turned on.

It is nice that there is something being done for historical buildings such as that to be preserved and made it a museum so it can be used as a learning tool for our generation. History are sometimes difficult to teach and be appreciated unless you go to historical sites and monument that you fully grasp the the value or meaning of the event. With this being renovated and preserved it may help learners appreciate what they have learned.

True, to think history is one of the least preference of the students but with sites like this maybe their interest will be high.

Good thing , the government took took over it and is renovating it now. It's a remembrance from the past that should be preserved so it could be seen and its memories relived by the new generations to come. Here in our place , the beautiful big and old house was also renovated and now it's a classic hotel and they call it Casa Simeon.
