Congressman Seth Moulton who served in the U S Armed Forces in the Iraq War recently delivered the good news to Vietnam War veteran John Mulley by presenting him with his combat medals that Mulley left in Vietnam in 1967. Moulton admitted that both wars were not popular in our nation. Moulton believes that the treatment the Vietnam veterans who came back was not really appreciated by the citizens in our nation. Mulley was happy that he finally received his combat medals this year since it makes up for the bad treatment from the people who protested the war will ease the pain of his time. It is a good to erase the bad memories of dealing with an unpopular war.

I thought the Vietnam War was popular. It's a good thing he eventually get rewarded and appreciated for his efforts.

The Vietnam war was highly contentious in America at the time, and unfortunately soldiers who came home were very poorly treated even though many of them were drafted.

Good for him if he is happy. Makes me think at the Légion d'Honneur medals that we gave to the last survivors of WW1 75 years after the end of the war. They got the medal because they lived long enough... but they were happy because there is a little pension given with this medal.

That is true since being thanked for your service is the best way to feel that you did something great.

@Deepizzaguy 50 years later ? They took time to realize it. My grandfather received a medal during WW1. 30 years later they wanted to give him another one and he refused it, telling them that it was too late.

@topffer That is how the Vietnam vets were treated back then like the red headed step child that is not wanted.
