So, since yesterday afternoon wherein I used the netbook and the desktop alternately for editing my files, and after I called it a night, I was already feeling pain in my neck. I have a wry neck or torticollis. It is similar to a stiff neck but this condition is manifested with slight difficulty of breathing and twisting of the muscles of my neck. There is a pin-prick pain at the right side of my neck that goes down at the upper back, right. This morning, I applied a cold pack to reduce the pain and a while ago, I also put warm compress over the affected area. I applied Ibuprofen gel and a liniment Betet that gives heat on the area. I have not taken any tablet yet. I also do neck exercises. I hope the wry neck will be healed tomorrow, because I do not want to have my duty on Monday with a twisted neck and asymmetrical shoulder level.

It was the fact to turn your head continuously between the netbook and the desktop that has caused the problem. I think that neck exercise should help.

yes, i agree with you. i am now doing the flexion, extension, hyperextension of the neck joints, including the repetitive nodding and turning, but not forced because ligaments might be torn.

@ridingbet We have those "hot patches" that you play 2 minutes in a microwave and the heat lasts for 20 minutes.

as of this moment, the pain is reduced to 4/10 pain-scale. i think the warm bath that i had this morning helped in alleviating the pain

I used to get that. I'm glad I don't get it anymore. I wonder if it is because I drink enough water these days?

@ridingbet So then, drinking a lot of water might lessen the getting of this painful problem?

hmm, i don't think so that drinking too much water causes torticollis, if that is what your comment means. actually, drinking liberal amounts of fluid somehow makes the skeletal joints be well-hydrated so there is reduced immobility. it is like a hinge added with oil.

@1hopefulman yes, because water is the universal therapy. it treats many discomforts.

It's hurting me when I have a stiff neck that is why as much possible if I'm too much in front of the laptop, I will try to give a rest.

that is true, hija. also, even though we are always on laptop or desktop, we should still move our joints and muscles.

i think this is also hereditary. i think if the neck muscles are not moved its range of motion, there will be permanent stiffness
