Scary Media Month!

United States
October 1, 2018 6:52pm CST
I usually start anywhere from mid September to the beginning of October. It's not just movies that I watch, but thriller novels that I read. I need to get back into the swing of things. I have been watching the new season of AHS but I don't really count that as part of my "scary media month". When do you start consuming thriller / horror type things? Or if you don't, why not?

I used to love watching scary movies during October. My favorites are the campy ones like The Faculty, Disturbing Behavior, and Campfire Tales. This month I think I'm going to try to watch The Babadook and The Conjuring for the first time.

I haven't watched The Faculty in years! I liked it though. Hmm, I usually watch the more indie type, anything I can find on netflix or amazon.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The Babadook was an indie that did shockingly well. I love scary movies, but not ones like Saw.

@AmbiePam Ah, I didn't know that. Of course I've heard of The Babadook. I am not a big fan of Saw either.

I grew up with horror movies. My sibilings and cousins loved them, and so it'd be something we'd all watch together. I think I probably watched my first horror movie at 5 years of age!

@Courtlynn My brother used to have a jason mask that he would wear around the house at night. I was like 6 when he was 16. It terrified me but I loved it at the same time.

I am a super big baby and can’t handle horror unless it’s like a super old not scary scary movie. But enjoy!

I grew up watching Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and the Halloween series with my siblings and cousin's. I still get scared at somethings but that is half the fun. Thank You!

I've started reading Reddit's horror stories as well. I do read or watch thriller year round but not a much as I do during this time of year.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I suppose it's because of Halloween.

@LadyDuck Yes, it will be here before we know it! The TV networks here start playing Halloween based movies. There is one network that plays lots of movies from the late 80's and early 90's that are family friendly. Things that I grew up on. Of course I also grew up on Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween.

I grew up watching all of the 80's and early 90's style horror films. Not much scares me, though there are some things I won't read about because it's just too much.

I never start because I never stop. Horror is not just for Hallowe'en. ;)
