a long NAP?

“ A nap is considered a 15-30-minute-duration daytime sleep which is in response to feeling drowsy during waking hours”. I learned this from my students several years ago when they have case presentations. That is why if I am sleepy in the afternoon while watching TV, I nod or take a nap. My sister was watching TV a while ago; I was on desktop reading discussions and on Facebook. When I turned, I saw her chair was empty; she might have gone to her room to have her nap. She can sleep longer during daytime; therefore, she has a very long nap because she goes out of her room when it is already dusk. Ahh! Yes, that may be a reason why she cannot sleep well at night. “She has a very long nap, which should not be more than an hour or two”. Maybe that is a reason why she has headaches after her nap/sleep? Do you usually take long naps?

No, I never take naps, because I would not be able to sleep during the night.

@LadyDuck yes, i have that feeling too when i sleep more than 2 hours nap, which should be considered sleep already. the nocturnal sleep will not be an 8-hour duration anymore.

i agree with you. but as long as naps are in minutes only, i think the night sleep won't be affected

maybe she should try having her siesta earlier like 1:30-2pm then set her alarm to wake up by 3 or 4pm so she won't have trouble sleeping at night.

I don't sleep or nap during the day. I have enough trouble trying to sleep at night.

i think that is true. i also always advice my students to not give health teachings totheir students for their patients to take afternoon naps because for sure they will be awake the whole night.

a nap should not take hours or more; it should only be in minutes. it can be 'power nap' too.
