This signage is a requirement to all business establishments and must be posted conspicuously together with other documents. This is also a reminder to both businesses and consumers to ensure that sales during that period are recorded. Although, some establishments are already using “POS” machines, there are still those who are using the manual process. Those who are using “POS” machines automatically generate the receipts so it’s no longer necessary to ask for it. While for those who are using the manual process, we still need to ask for official receipts which if we do not ask; they wouldn’t mind giving us as well. Do you ask for receipt whenever you buy? I don't have to ask for a recipt because all the establishments I transact with automatically gives out the receipt. BTW, banks and other lending institutions are also required to post in a very conspicuous place in their premises the "Truth in Lending Act" so their clients can be aware of their rights as borrowers.

Yes, there's no problem if they're giving you receipts without asking for it. There are establishments who doesn't if you would not ask especially those who are not using "POS". There are even professionals that would not unless you ask.

I don't normally ask for receipt on Fastfood. But it is a no-no for me not to ask receipt for payment transactions.

@ZedSmart We need it for exchange if we need to. For medical bills, I might get tax exemption or I might get reimbursed for my travel.

It's important to the internal revenue as well. It's proof of business revenue.

It depends. If I can reimburse the money or the thing I buy has a chance of being damage then I ask for one.

It's really important to ask so that you can show a proof should complain arises.
