I don't know what the cooks of the past wanted to accomplish by putting everything in gelatin. But I do know they managed to gross me out. Especially with this one.
This particular delicacy involves gelatin (of course), carrots, sliced roast beef, parsley and Worcestershire sauce.
You basically arrange everything in the gelatin inside a spring form pan and allow it to firm up. And then enjoy.
Eww eww. I mean I like all the ingredients separately, but in gelatin no no nope.

I'm sure there's reasoning behind it, but I'm not sure that I want to know what it is.

That really does sound gross. I make a gelatin salad once in a while that has lemon jello, pecans, cream cheese, celery, and marshmallows. It really is quite good.
