People who have been complaining that they wanted cooler weather are on my doo-doo list. It’s in the mid-40s today. Welcome to the Ohio Valley! And welcome to another song from my list of favorites by the Steve Miller Band. The other day @LoriAMoore said Steve Miller was good, and I promised her I was going to change her mind. Here goes! #2: Something to Believe In So if you were wondering what could rank above Boz Scaggs, the answer is simple: country music!! That’s right, Stevie goes country!!! With a great steel guitar performance from “Sneaky” Pete Kleinow, “Something to Believe In” is far more country than anything played on “country radio” nowadays. Not only that, this is a gorgeous love song. This sounds so out of place on The Joker (especially on side two, with all the blues feel), but that’s one of its many charms. “Dance Dance Dance” is pretty country, too...so was “Going to the Country” from Number 5 (which really sounded out of place given all the blues on side two).

“Country music” has gotten so bad that Robbie pulled the song he said he’d never do again out of retirement Thursday night....AND updated it!!!
