Diary Saturday 13th October 2018 A day of relative ease following the week long movie festival activity. Much of the day involved sleep, and just watching TV, with a little shopping thrown in for good measure. Diary Sunday 14th October 2018 Virtually a shot by shot recreation of Saturday without the shopping. Diary Monday 15th October 2018 Back to busy today with some voluntary work helping out with a large social work student course. The students I sat with had their studies going well so I had little need to say much to get quieter students to join in the discussions. The evening got more exciting. As a thank you for our help running the university One In Four Mental Health movie festival, the volunteers, including myself, were given free tickets for the Preston International Movie Festival, which started today. No working here, just a chance to enjoy the movies all week. As the opening movie, the Czech feature Dark Blue World (Review to follow shortly) was screened to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia at the end of the First World War, many leading Czech dignitaries were invited to promote their country and celebrate their post-Communist liberation era. There was even a surprise video message from the film's director and writer (a father & son team, Jan & Zdenek Sverak). There was a Czech buffet and free Czech wines too, It made for an extraordinary evening. Youtube - Trailer for Dark Blue World Arthur Chappell

Our city has an international movie festival too and they are great value. We always go if we're around. What a lovely gift - worth the hassle with the nasty lady.
