I have three green beans on my balcony green bean plant! I'm going to harvest them and gobble them up. I took a picture of one of the green beans, but I think I'll use a picture of our green bean harvest at the preschool this Summer. I'm not sure if I've used it before. Kids love planting stuff, watering it, and harvesting it. I know I've said this before, but if you want your kids to love vegetables, simply have them grow them!

Sucks. It's a great project. The kids would love it. Start w/ Dixie cups w/ seeds and their names on them. They'll take ownership. Once the seeds are in the planter, they're "everyone's." That teaches community.

@Plethos We can't plant tomatoes because someone decided that the leaves are toxic. Dos she have her garden in the ground and growing?

@TheHorse - shes got houseplants in the classroom. what gets her mad at the school is that the FFA teacher has said his classes can help with the garden. and the home ec teacher next door has said shed cook the veggies for them. i think it just needs final approval from the board. its put together, structure wise, but it still needs the dirt and seeds.

They do look kind of lost! But it was enough to make the kids happy.

@TheHorse If the temperature continues to stay so high I think I can get one more pound of strawberries. It should start to rain on Saturday afternoon, well, we need rain now.

They do seem to like them more if they help with the gardens.

So right. When growing up, each of my 5 siblings had a special vegetable to grow in my Mom's garden. Mine was beets, and I love beets.

It does seem to make a difference when they have some ownership of the garden!

It's a very kind of you that you love plants and encourage children to watering and harvesting them. But in my flat due to lack of space planting is not possible.
