At least deliver it to the right street!

This photo is of the street in which we live - that is our house on the left-hand side with the wooden fence in front of it. It is number 15 New Street.
A few months ago our son David ordered some items via Amazon that he wanted for an event that he had booked to go to - it was a "live action replay" weekend that involved special costumes and mock weaponry - that sort of thing. The items in question were not essential to the event, and were not all that large - they would arrive in packages that would easily fit through a letterbox.
However, despite being ordered well in advance, the items had not arrived within a few days of the event, so David made some enquiries. Amazon assured him that the items had been delivered several weeks before and so there was no question of him being compensated for items that he had paid for and not received.
The event came and went and David thoroughly enjoyed it, although the missing items would certainly have made it better.
Yesterday - a month or more after the event - there was a knock at the door and a lady handed David the two packages that he had been waiting for. They had indeed been delivered, as Amazon said, but to 15 Newbold Road and not 15 New Street! The house in question had been unoccupied at the time, and it was only when the house owner had turned up to prepare the place for a new tenant that she had found David's items on the doormat!
I would have thought that the first thing to expect of a delivery driver is that he works out which street he is in!

Such utter incompetence. I am surprised the items were still there even.
Where I live right now, the address is often confused with another too..it is infuriating, so in the end, when items come from Amazon, I have them delivered to an Amazon locker instead that is over the way at the grocery store.
Now we are moving Monday, so we shouldn´t have this problem anymore, I can relate.
But your house is lovely John!!

The items were part of the pile of stuff - mostly junk mail - that had accumulated behind the front door while the house was unoccupied, so they weren`t going to go anywhere!
Thanks for the compliment. The front of the house dates from about 1906. We had the back of the house virtually rebuilt three years ago when we extended the property, but the original bricks were used so it does not look out of keeping with the front.
Good luck with your move!

@indexer is it customary to just leave packages without the owner/proxy receiving and/or signing for it?

The postal service and Fedex are good about delivering to the right address here,,UPS tends to deliver across the street!

This happened to me recently. I ordered business cards and when they came the box was filled with cards for another person who lives in Florida. Mine were in the box also but I'm sure the lady who is waiting for her cards is wondering why they haven't been delivered. Now I have to call the company and return the cards that aren't mine.Since I live in Pennsylvania and she is in Florida it boggles my mind that the company made such a mistake.

Oh I see, you have done some work on your house..its truly so quaint and gorgeous a credit to you John.
