Live Art in Laguna Beach

Once the tourist season is past, the artists reappear in Laguna Beach each fall. During the peak tourist season, it is too crowded for the artists to work along the pathway overlooking the beach. However, once the number of walkers drops down to a reasonable level, the artists show up. It is fun to walk along the cliff overlooking the beach and watch all types of artists as they paint the ocean, the cliffs, the park which overlooks the park, the people, and the charming downtown area of Laguna Beach. Some of them are quite good. Others are students taking a class from one of the teachers who give lessons at the beach. Either way, it is enjoyable to watch them work! Do you have artists who paint outdoors in the area where you live?

The students who study painting here go to the mountains or the park to paint.

During summer several painters around the lakes, there are beautiful sights to paint. Now the rain and the cold prevent people to stay outside.

@DeborahDiane There is a small village that people can only reach by a pedestrian pathway or by boat, it's the favorite place for summer painters. I have been there several times to take photos.

@LadyDuck - Yes, it is only appealing to paint outdoors in nice weather. It is beautiful in Switzerland in the summer. I am sure you have many wonderful artists there!

@LadyDuck - Oh, it sounds like a lovely place to visit! We have islands here in Newport Bay which can only be reached by boat or a pedestrian walk. I love to walk around them.

That can be very inspirational to paint there. I have not seen anyone paint anywhere here at the beach or the riverside.

@RasmaSandra - I'm surprised there are not artists outdoors in Dayton Beach. It seems like that would be a perfect spot!

We have many art students from the universities here, especially Yale, who paint and sketch. My favorite were the artists in Paris, and not one wore a beret.

@DianneN - Ha ha! You are right! I have seen artists in Paris, too, and never saw one in a beret! For that matter, the ones in Laguna Beach do not wear berets, either! LOL

@DeborahDiane Makes sense to me that the artists would disappear when too many people around then they cannot concentrate on what they want to paint and then come back when it is quiet. We love tourists coming to our country. Yes, we have artists that have painted the ground or buildings. It is very nice what they have done and adds so much.

Yes, I think it must be hard to paint with tourists around. I love seeing them work on their art, though! It is fun and enhances the community.

@Hannihar Yes, I agree. I think that is why the artists stay away during tourist season. Too many people!!

@DeborahDiane I understand but if they cannot see the subject I would be happy for less people around too so I could see what I am painting.

@jstory07 - Oregon has so many beautiful views, that surprises me. Perhaps it is because it is a bit chillier and rainier there!

I'd love to watch them! Don't they get conscious?

@sol_cee - It does not seem to bother them to be watched, which surprises me. I always try to compliment them, even if I do not think they are really very good.

@JohnRoberts - Perhaps you will see some artists around Manhattan Beach or Santa Monica ... although, to be honest, I don't remember seeing any there when we have stayed in the area.
