TV Review Doctor Who Arachnids In The UK

This felt the most like a traditional Who story of the new series so far. It had a lot in common with Jon Pertwee era story The Green Death, mutation due to careless toxic waste dumping in old mine-shafts, the Doctor mourning the death of the beautiful monsters, etc.
Chris (Big from Sex & The City) Noth played Donald Trump very well, a cowardly celebrity hotel chain owner with high political ambition, willing to throw anyone under the bus to save himself, and still alive at the episode finale). References to Russian agents using poison too. My, we are getting satirical.
The spider in Nana's flat was the only one not really explained. The others were linked to the staff at the lab and the hotel (the opening corridor shot of which was very Shining Overlook.
I expect the spiders would have had a much bigger population explosion in the months since the problem first started. This would have already been too big for The Doctor to stop. - I expected some reference to Metabelis Three (a previous giant Spider story) but nothing.
The Doctor says she never had a flat but he (when he was a he) shared a flat in The Lodger.
Team TARDIS came together nicely, with Bradley Walsh showing great acting skill, but Noth was really the star of this one.
The rather unique take on the spider in the bath was both funny and scary. I expect this one was a real behind the sofa adventure for many younger viewers and arachnaphobes too.
As the spiders never got out of the city it should perhaps be called Arachnids In Sheffield.
The (sometimes sweary) Stormzy song that saved the World in this episode I quite enjoyed the video for this - not heard it before. It is used to lure the spiders into the Doctor's trap.

I had to read the title of your post 3 times before I realized you were referencing Doctor Who and an episode about Arachnids in the UK rather than a Doctor who arachnids (used as a verb) in the UK. My tired mind was trying to come to terms with the verb "to arachnid."

@arthurchappell No apology needed. It was totally a short circuit on my part. We've been doing a lot of work on pronouns and verb infinitives at school in my 4th grade class.

@DWDavis yes grammatically it is an awkward scan. Punctuating title lines on here messes up the address of the web link a bit

Maybe Nana had something in her loft which that particular spider was attracted to. I'm a bit of an arachnaphobe, but these spiders were too big to be truly scary! And I knew I recognised that chap.

Nice analysis. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series, though as an arachnophobe I certainly had to do my share of eye-aversion during this episode!

Never cared for or watched Dr. Who but I would love seeing Chris Noth in that role.
