Are phones good or bad for us? Why?

I know it’s a really cliche question but I was just wondering, what was your opinion about it. I guess it can be good at some part but also bad. For example I look sometimes at myself. Instead of learning I am playing on my phone and watch cute puppies videos on Instagram. And I know it’s actually my fault because I should concentrate on what I am doing, learning for example, but sometimes is my phone far more interesting. It happens a lot, I see often people walking on the street and watching their phone but not the road in front of them, when I step in the bus, most of the girls and boys my age sitting there are just scrolling and watching stuff and they don’t look outside and they don’t see that there is actually quite good weather for October. And I am not judging I just find it so pitty sometimes, when there is much beautiful things in this world and we should enjoy the nature and people we are with and really meet them, not just go FaceTime. Phones are amazing invention, just we shouldn’t use them too much, because we may miss a lot from the real world, that’s my opinion. How about you?

Yes, they can be a distraction!!! If I have my phone I start to fiddle with it and end up on mylot or youtube!!! And always go over my data limit!!!! I have to stop!!! I'm now using my phone to make more money and trying to save my data!!!

Yes! I agree with @db20747 I grew up right before the age that cell phones became really popular (1990s). We had beepers for emergencies and before that we had to rely on public telephones. Because of that I never really liked the direction of the use of these cell phones. I still don't have an updated smartphone. I like to "smell the roses" instead of focusing on my phone. I have a whole discussion on how I feel about social media if you're interested.... Welcome to MyLot!

I would say phones are a mixed blessing, but they are sure fun to have, and very useful at times too!

I've lived the most part of my life before e-gadgets were invented. I don't need a phone.

@zuzi805 I find that ever sense the cell phone was invented people are more interested than their phone than paying attention to what is around them. I have people when I am on my scooter just stop right in front of me and stand there. I will beep them but they are so engrossed in their phone that they do not care about others. I have my phone to save me money by not using my landline much. I turn my phone off most of the time.

Phones are useful but they shouldn't be what life is all about.

Mobile phones and other gadgets can cause a big distraction. That's why when I am working online, I put my mobile phone in silent mode.

Like with everything. It's a good side and a bad side. Though I don't pay my bills with my phone, I'm glad for these small inventions

Yes nowadays we are very much attached with the phone forgetting other important things. That's true phone plays an important role in our day to day life but it has some bad effects also. Due to this we lost our many beautiful birds, having hearing problems and loses our memories. On the other hand we can contact anyone whenever required. So it has both good and bad effects.

Phones are good when they are used to important or necessary matters. But if they are just used to destroy people's dignity and reputations, therefore, they are bad now.

Erica is right, it's the high frequencies coming off the device that are dangerous.

It depends upon the extent of your usage. And how do you use it.

You have good points! I think its all about self discipline. Mobile phones are a big blessing to this generation.
