Happy Halloween!

Ah yes, once again, it's Halloween, that most festive of holidays! Earlier, I was reminiscing about a not so fond Halloween. This has absolutely nothing to do with my own trick or treating experiences, rather, this takes place in the 1980's. In the early 80's, I shared an apartment with a buddy from high school. When our lease was up, we decided that it would be more cost effective, and more fun (and it definitely was more fun. It's the closest I ever came to living in a frat house. The entire neighborhood hated us!) to rent a house with two other friends. It would soon become known as "The Big Funkin' Party House." Anyway, we moved into The Big Funkin' Party House on Halloween night. Here in Colorado, it traditionally snows on Halloween, and that night was no exception. So there we were, in the snow, moving furniture, boxes, stereo equipment, skis, you know, single guy in Colorado stuff, and these damn kids keep running up and trick or treating us. Apparently, they must have thought that the couch was made of candy, or that the boxes were full of chocolate instead of record albums and clothing. We had no candy. We finally started giving the brats whatever spare change we had in our pockets. When that ran out, we simply went inside, drank beer, and stopped answering the door. So tonight, as you are handing out candy, I will be following my yearly policy of turning out the lights and pretending that we aren't home. It usually works, so hopefully we won't get anyone knocking on our door. In the meantime, enjoy one of the greatest Halloween songs ever made. Happy Halloween!
