Several rivers freeze in winter and this one is Moskva River in Nagatino in Moscow. One of my young friends from India got a posting in Moscow to teach English. She told me that she walked on a frozen river. I got the shudders when I heard that. There is always the possibility of encountering thin ice and one has the possibility of going under. I admired this girl's courage. I would never.

This is true, there is always a risk walking on a frozen lake or a frozen river.

@allknowing I remember when Willy (the cat) walked on our frozen pond in winter. I stayed outside to check that he did not fall inside, my poor silly cat.

Some areas have really extreme weather conditions. I admire the resilience to be able to live in such places.

It is a matter of getting used to and 'what cannot be cured has to be endured' kind of a situation.

@allknowing Right. We have really bad storms once in a while and severe flooding. We endure.

Rivers are the most dangerous as it takes the ice a lot longer to get thick because of the moving water underneath. Glad she made it safely.
