Squirrel!

Those of you who are familiar with the movie Up! will probably recognize my reference. Dug, the helpful talking dog is easily distracted.
That is a very apt metaphor for my life. I go upstairs to a wash-cloth and notice that the bathroom needs cleaning. I clean the bathroom and forget entirely why I went upstairs in the first place. Squirrel!
I remember that I need to get the wash out of the washing machine. In the basement, I remember that I needed a wash-cloth to wipe up a spill. Back up the stairs I go. Squirrel!
The kitchen timer goes.
My house is a never-ending chore at the moment. The carpet has been removed from the Great-room in preparation for laying hardwood. Nothing is where it belongs and construction dust seems to be on everything.
I start one task, only to get distracted by something else that needs to be done more desperately.
I flipped open my laptop to send out reminders to my nursery volunteers for this Sunday and the topmost open tab was on MyLot. I haven’t posted anything in a few days, let me write something quickly. Squirrel!
The clock is ticking and I need to be sitting behind the wheel of my car in exactly 26 minutes. Despite being easily distracted I am almost NEVER late.
Life would be so much easier if I could actually DO multiple tasks at the same time and be in different places while doing so.
Are you easily distracted?

Sometimes. If I have a lot of things o do. If that happens, it's good to take a break

Unfortunately I have too many things on the go right now. If I take a break the list of things waiting to be tackled just gets longer.

Some days are worse than others. I've got a lot of things going on at the moment. Add in a major renovation project and my life feels just a tad crazy.

I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be thank goodness. I wouldn't need to be either.

We live in a very fast time and I think we do not need more time for new tasks, but we need to slow down a bit.
