I just read where Florida was to become the third state to join Arizona and Hawaii to not observe Daylight Savings Time. Apparently it was approved this past July; but Congress sent both bills to be referred by the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, where they have yet to be discussed.
"U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, has filed not one but two bills to make the change permanent. But now that Washington has failed to act, so Florida’s clocks will fall back in November just as they have for years."
I personally don't like it getting dark that early, but I know the original reason this took affect was due to kids going to school in the dark.
How would you feel if your state did away with Daylight Savings Time?
What time does daylight saving time end? The “Sunshine Protection Act” that went into effect in Florida would make Daylight Saving Time year-round in the Sunshine State — but so far the required congressional approval to make it happen has languished in th

It changes twice a year. In the fall, and in the spring. Not sure what you heard, but it is a true time under the time change. But at one time...daylight savings never existed. Some states want to end it, so it stays as light as possible every season of the year. As it stands...in most states it gets really dark early during the fall and winter months.

I would love it if Daylight Savings time was abolished completely.

No, Florida is not going to quit doing Daylight Savings Time, they want to keep it ALL YEAR! They don't want to go back to real time. I would love that.

That is not what Senator Mark Rubio. He has tried to get it passed through congress twice now.

It is on the California ballot so hopefully the state joins Arizona.

It still has to go through congress. It passed in Florida, that is not what is holding Florida up, or we would not have made the change this time. Maybe California won't experience the hold-up that we did.

I think the solution would be to move back the school time and not the time itself as in moving the school time for children come to school to 8 if they come to school currently or vice versa (moving the school reporting time to 6 if it's the season when light comes early). Same with the work reporting time of employees. It should be simple as that.
