My husband’s current work schedule gives him a four day weekend every three weeks. Life has been pretty crazy lately, so we decided to take advantage of his free Friday to spend a night away from home and enjoy the fall foliage.
Saturday morning when we left our hotel we discovered a bit of frozen white stuff on our car. Not long after, as we were driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, we saw even more of the white stuff.
The mountain laurel leaves had a generous frosting of wet snow.
We went to enjoy autumn and ended up with a taste of winter.

We try to visit at least a couple of times a year. We're fortunate to live only a couple of hours away from several access points.

Oh wow! That seems early. I'm happy you got out to enjoy some scenery though

It's not that unusual for the higher elevations...we just aren't usually around to see it.

And I guess a lot of the colours were covered up too.

@SophiaMorros It is really hard to get a photo that does a landscape justice. There needs to be some sort of 3D effect I think.

The mountain tops have already lost most of their leaves, but we still saw lots of colour lower down and the valley views were spectacular.
The photo doesn't really do the scenery justice.

Was it cold where you were? That is something you went to enjoy autumn and you found winter instead?

I enjoy snow myself, but we rarely see it before January at home. The higher elevations in the mountains get it much earlier in the season.
