How do you prevent charger cables from fraying?

So that is what they call that fraying. I think it really comes to a point that fraying happens. I am very careful
With my cable but in time this happens. I even get this plastic coveredaround it but eventually this cover does break and when it starts you can never stop it.

My daughter uses some kind of plug at the connection to prevent her cables from fraying. I’ve never experienced such fraying but my problem is the connector itself being bent by my grandson when he tries to pull it out of the gadget. He will always bend the connector and damage it.
You can also use the spring that you can find in a pen and wrap it around the cable to prevent fraying. Refer to the image attached.
