Looking through Pixabay for a particular image this morning I came across this one. As I sat and looked at it I realized that it's appeal for me is beyond what I expected. I have never really thought about it before but I am always looking at old pictures, writing in older times. I am not a today, modern type of person. I just plain old like ancient times, antiques, and all things old-fashioned. I live vicariously through my writing back in the times when life seemed simpler, harder maybe, but surely simpler. As a matter of fact, I believe that I probably should have been born mush earlier that I was. Don't get me wrong, I love my computer and the ease of research, and I certainly couldn't do without air conditioning but... I think I would have loved living way back when the living was slower and the people seemed more gracious. I am thinking, I may be living in the wrong century. What about you? Do you belong in the here and now or do you feel you should have been born when men were gentlemen and woman were ladies?

I agree with you. I'm glad I'm still alive, but I would have liked to have served in and survived WWII, moving into an Eichler home with my maiden wife upon my return. Or maybe been one of those cowboys who ran cattle from Texas up to Montana in the 1880s. That's a great picture!

We all have our dreams. Maybe we are just old souls.

I tend to read more books taking place in the past. I love different periods of history, although consider myself a modern girl. lol

You are the best of both worlds. An old-fashioned girl with a modern outlook.

I think the same, I love more the past than the present. I would have loved to live in the late 1800.

@HazySue I think it was a beautiful time until around 1920/1930.

That would be a great time to have lived. I thought I was the only one around that wanted to live in the past

I've been lucky in that my childhood and youth were in much simpler times, but now I love my computer. I've had the best of both worlds

@HazySue The trouble with pre-20th century is that if you didn't have money life must have been very tough.

I have had some of each world and even though I know I would miss the modern conveniences I would love to spend some time in the older centuries.

I agree. I think that's why my sci-fi writing has a bit of the old mixed with the new. I liked the old west, but as you said, I can't live without my computer. Give me the values of yesterday with the convenience of today.

I have a feeling that many of the people who write belong to a different century.

What time period would you lie to have lived in?

Possible typo note: Did you mean "am now a today, modern type of person"? Or did you mean to type "not." Either is possible.

Since I do believe in past lives, I am sure I lived several times because of my attachment to certain things and places.

I still like the old times to be honest. If i could have the internet in rural areas, i would live there. There, life runs in slow pace.

True it does move slower in the country.
