No Such Thing as Soul Mates

Ever see an article you don't bother to read because the title already turned you off. The reason the title turned you off is because your life is the opposite of what the title is saying. You're like: ”What do you mean? Does my life not count?”
I will supply the link to the article that I may eventually read it after I get through fuming about the title. I'm sure the article writer has a clear point or points she want to make about relationships. There is actually a "Marriage 101" class being taught at Northwestern University. Boy! Times have changed. When I was at university (in the 70s), marriage was just a sub-topic lumped with other topics in a psychology course about relationships.
But, just based on the article title, I wonder:
I know some people prefer living the single life and would rather not commit to a permanent relationship. However, do you really believe you should NOT even try to look for that "special somebody" that you connect with so well you genuinely believe that you were made for each other?
Do you believe that you can NEVER find your soul mate for life?
This can't be true. If it is I won't ever be to listen to Michael Franks crooning anymore!

I don't know about the soul mate part but I did get married and we have been through a lot together and at times I just feel like I was in the right spot at the right time. As for me I have helped my husband with all these different things wrong with him and I'm always here by him if he needs help etc. So yeah maybe we were meant to be.

I'm not sure that is what they mean. I haven't actually read the article so I could be wrong, but I would interpret the sentence 'There are no such thing as soul mates' as meaning that there is no need to wait for ever for that perfect person, they don't really exist, no-one is absolutely perfect but there could be several people who would be good choices for you.
After all, if everyone had only one true soul mate, in this world of 7 billion individuals spread over more than 500,000,000 square km, what is the chance you would ever meet them?

I believe that I married my best friend, my soulmate, my partner.
Our relationship has evolved and growm....we've worked through hard times and differences. No one said it was all easy....but relationships are work.....and we are well rewarded for our efforts.

I believe there could be a soulmate for people. I never found mine. I married the wrong person and we got divorced.

I had three kids that got married and then divorced. The divorce was not a surprise.

I am sorry. Did they remarry again?

@Hannihar - I'm sorry too. I edited my comment. Had typed in "two". I meant to say 3 kids. So far none of them have chosen to remarry. Guess they decided to take Marilyn Monroe's advice. "It's better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with somebody."

Very true. Lots of things have been added to educational curriculums that weren't there when I was in school.

@db20747 - Yes that would be nice. But I'll bet they have lots of pictures of IMperfect married couples. I remember when I was much younger thinking that Sonny and Cher were the perfect married couple. Boy was I wrong! I blame Cher! That Sonny was a sweet guy. Wasn't he adorable? He had such a cute smile and a sort of innocent way about him. You just wanted to squeeze him like a teddy bear!
