Why is customer service so bad now?

Over the past ten or so years I've run afoul of some really horrific customer service. One of the rules of my blog has always been I only mention company names or people's names when reviewing a product and when receiving horrific customer service.
Based on that and kind of in addition I do Yelp Reviews. I have 5 1 star (the worst) reviews.
Noah's Properties of Maryland - horrible customer service.
Best Buy - really horrible customer service
AT&T - really bad customer service
24/7 Locksmith - way overcharging for services
There is another, but they actually came back and fixed the problem they created and frankly, I don't list them anymore. They have improved in my eyes!
What companies have given you poor customer service?

One reason could be outsourcing business,
it's flourishing. Companies, in order to save cost compromise on csr recruitment and training. Cost plays an important role everywhere.

Knowing what the cost of good vs bad customer service is, I would argue that in fact bad customer service is a lot more expensive in the short and long run.

It is a difficult situation, but with the decline we have to complain!

Because they simply don't care. Why should they when monopolies are often the case.

I worked for a monopoly under s consent decree. Because, if monopolies aren't careful they end up with consent decrees that are very expensive.
