Stop making Live Action Films Out Of Cartoons

Many animated classics are due for live action remakes. The Lion King (not the stage play version, but a shot for shot rehash of the cartoon), Dumbo, Pokemon, Sonic The Hedgehog and Dora The Explorer, are all getting live action releases in the new year.
There is also Alita: Battle Angel, a live action take on an anime classic, complete with the central character being given saucer sized eyes that look downright weird in live action mixed with CGI that makes going live a contradiction.
Maybe next they'll do the opposite and we'll get anime versions of Citizen Kane, How The West Was Won, and Whatever Happened To Baby Jane.
Maybe Disney should go the whole hog and give us a live action Mickey Mouse, possibly played by Mickey Rourke.
Youtube showing that Dumbo looks particularly horrible

And don't forget the newly remade Grinch... The original cartoon was great. The live action remake was so-so. I don't even want to think about this third incarnation. What's the point?

@BarBaraPrz I agree. I hated the Jim Carrey version

Actually, I think Dumbo looks cute although I only watched until it flew.
I guess how good a job they do will determined things but they have younger generations to feed on and many of them won't care about the stories we grew up on.
Are they doing all the remakes because they're fresh out of ideas for new stories?

@MarshaMusselman yes though plenty of writers submit new ideas that get ignored

@arthurchappell Indeed, I have called Kai and Tristan Dumbo because of their big ears. Come on Dumbo get over here.

I would love to see a live Micky Mouse. I loved Lion King. I saw it here in Israel and I think I saw it in Hebrew. I saw Shrek in Hebrew and loved it.

The cartoons have a class of their own. I enjoy them as cartoons.

@MarshaMusselman the first two Shrek films were good. Later ones just follow the formula

@arthurchappell I've never been into cartoons much. My husband's watches enough for everyone. I might be more appt to watch the remakes than the original cartoons. I've yet to see Cars, Shrek and other newer ones.

@scarlet_woman yes, ruling out fresh original writing for endless re-imaginings

Does it somehow distort childhood memories or how we saw and remember things?
