Yaiks! My big toe is hurting really bad. I normally remove ingrown by myself but this time it is hard to do. I thought I removed it. Very painful to walk. I walk back and forth at work to check the residents. This pain slows me down. Any suggestions how to remove it easily? Thanks a lot in advance.

Soak that foot in hot water before you try again, make the nail softer to work with, easier to clip and easy out.

I agree with @andriaperry. Maybe a long soak in a hot water can help softening the nails so you can cut it.

Just what other members have said, soak it in warm water with Epsom salt.

I did last night. I couldn't stand the pain. I worked 16hours and I was dying of pain... Puss oozed. Pardon me, haha. I feel better now. A little pain but tolerable.

There are ways to manage pain hopefully there won't be the ingrown toenails causing more problems.

Soak the foot and get the nail real soft, and then you are going to have to dig a little bit, lift the nail up as much as you can, and cut it. It hurts like hell, but you have to do it. THEN get into the habit of cutting your toenails straight across. I used to suffer more ingrown but once I started cutting straight across it got much better and much less frequent.

@Deajae72 I suffered this, and so I feel your pain. Cutting straight across helped me.

I feel better now and would definitely do the straight line trimming. Thank you.

If the pain persist then the ingrown must have gone deeper that the only solution would be ungiectomy. I have just undergone such and now I do not have any problem with that anymore and the nail started growing back and pain is gone already. But you have to bear the pain after the operation for about a week before the wound would finally heal up. I have posted about it in here.
