A dog named Samson is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of his owner whose name was not released. The owner of the dog were fleeing the Camp Fire that destroyed Paradise California when the owner was fleeing the area to go to a safe place. Samson who used his instincts forced his owner to take another route due to a downed power line where he was originally going to travel. Thanks to the North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG) the image of Samson and his owner reuniting at the Chico Airport and Animal Shelter that made it to the social media sites.

Dogs have greater use of their senses that humans do. I agree with you on this point.

He's a very smart dog and a hero at that. I wonder if the dog was trained for it.

It could be that the dog was a service dog for the man who owns Samson.

I still see the news about the fires, still looking for bones and when I think of all the people who didn't get out of that fire i think of the animals too. That dog in the photo is a Belgian Malinois, My daughter has one and it is so smart, you think he's human or smarter than humans.

I did not know that the dog is a Belgian Malinois. I know that Saint Bernards are heroic dogs but a Belgian Malinois hardly gets any good publicity to save lives.

That's a great story. In emergencies, it's always good to rely on a dog's instincts.
