Got up earlier for a change as couldn't sleep. External Hard drive, no typos

While I'm hoping to begin heading to bed at night way before midnight, I was up until 1:30 again last night for several reasons. The main one so I could take my pain pills before bed rather than having to take them in the middle of the night. Also, my husband had just gone to bed and it takes him about twenty minutes to stop coughing and settle in and he was up later too. My normal time to sleep in during the winter months unless we have a job has been nine am especially when I'm up late. Today I got up at 7:30. After a potty break which is normal anytime between 6-8am I went back to bed fully intending to go back to sleep, but after half an hour went ahead and got up. My manner is to lay there until I finally do fall asleep and then I don't want to get up until later yet. Yesterday I spent the better part of my day saving files. I still have some excel and word documents to save, but my external drive is full so I might have to buy a new one of those. Maybe I can get if for myself for Christmas. Btw, I'm writing on my desktop again and it's much easier, but can't be done when I'm elevating my feet. The good thing is I don't have as many typos to fix. Good for me and good for you. Today, I really need to begin working on my bookwork better at least until I need to get my feet back off the floor, but I should have until noon-ish for that. And then my friend and I will try out planet fitness for walking. See you all around, now for a while and later today.

That sounds like a busy day. Are your legs troubling you?

Not right now, why? My 'legs' overall don't bother me and the wound overall isn't bothersome much any more unless I wait to long to take my pain pills. But that's not really for the wound but the surrounding tissue that gets a bit dried out, I think. Maybe you've not read about the wound I've had since last fall? If not, you can read a bit of a recap on Hanni's response that was here just before yours. It will only be a busy day if I do everything that I wrote about. So far, I've mainly been here and done nothing else except make coffee for me and my daughter and another pot of decaf for my husband, And, I have eaten breakfast too.

@responsiveme I edited and added to my reply to your original comment as I didn't know you'd already seen it. Someone recommended lavender essential oils for the wound itself or surrounding tissue. I did try it around the wound, but my skin seemed irritated. So maybe I'll wait on that until I have full healing and then see if that helps it be more supple again.

@MarshaMusselman okay...Maybe you can massage the area around with some herbal oil. And it is nice to take things slow too. In a while I am going to heat up left overs have dinner and go to bed

I can't imagine being in bed that late unless it's naptime, which this morning it was between 8-10. I hope you're able to get a new external hard drive. I always work on my desktop. It's so much easier. I know what you mean about elevating your legs. I need to do it too. The recliner is good for that. I hope you got your walking in.

If it when we're told to elevate it legs by the Dr they always mean over the heart. Not many recliners get out feeder write that high even with several pillows. It sounds like you might be an early bird? I've always been a night owl other than when I have no choice.

@just4him in the warmer months I don't have the option of sleeping in even though I rarely get to bed by midnight. If I could work my way to getting to bed earlier then maybe getting up early would be fine. Also it's I slept through the night it would be easier to get up earlier too, but some nights I'm up a lot.

I went to bed early last night, it was 10 pm, I have read for half an hour and turn off my night lamp. I woke up at 1:30 and I have been unable to sleep for hours. I finally decided to get up at 5:30.

@MarshaMusselman I had a better sleep last night. I heard my husband getting up at 4, but I stayed in bed until 6 this morning.

@LadyDuck what time thou thou two normally go to bed at night? I know you've said before that you get around six hours most nights so I'm going to guess around midnight?

You may have needed a nap today or maybe you can sleep longer tonight. I have nights like those. And months ago when my foot kept me up I'd go on the computer for a while when everyone else was sleeping. But usually I try to stay put rather than getting up.

@MarshaMusselman I did buy hubby a hard drive for Christmas, maybe he will take care of it and that will motivate him. One of the things I worry about is our taxes, I have years on one of our computers so it is an old computer anyway and only a matter of times until those are gone with that computer.

@mom210 you don't keep printed copies of you taxes too? That's one thing we should always keep a hard copy of just in case. I have a lot of old stuff in shoe boxes in the basement. I've been working on eliminating the oldest ones first as some are over twenty years old. I used to take the previous year work down but in more recent years it's taking me more time to finish the previous years work. I may just find a good spot to store it in upstairs so I can more easily shred the oldest each year.

I don't worry about it until something like this happens. My computer worked for to more days and then later today quit again. I've not finished saving everything yet and can't until I get another external drive this weekend. I'll be able to save about thirty dollars. Hopefully once i take my computer to my person he can retrieve what I couldn't yet save. In hindsight I should have put that on a flash

@MarshaMusselman Why are you elevating your feet?

I've had a wound on my inner ankle since a year ago September. I've been seeing a specialist from Oct of last year until October of this year and have since switched to the wound clinic. The doctors I was seeing since last year did a fabulous job but healing came to a halt this fall and that's one reason I switched over. We thought I might need a special treatment like a patch containing stem cells is one option. But, not that it's getting smaller again, I'm hopeful we won't need to us the special treatment because it's more money out of my pocket for the copayment. Elevating one's feet over the heart when available is supposed to help the blood not pool in the ankle region. That is the main reason I've taken off work on short-term disability, to have time to elevate them so they can heal.

@MarshaMusselman Thanks for clearing that up for me. So how is the ankle now? Is this the same ankle that got hurt when you were tearing up the carpet?

The cause or at least reason for slow healing is varicose veins and having a job where I'm standing for eight hours at a time with breaks and lunches of course. I always have a lot to do but that may be do to me not always doing it or keeping up with it all. I've been mostly mylotting since getting up and playing a game more recently. I have eaten but otherwise not tackled any tasks yet.

@Courage7 now that I've been off work it's healing again so all is good. The longest it's taken previously was two months so this was totally unexpected. The other one were above my ankle though and the blood doesn't pool in that area, so it healed faster.
