Uthappam, I tried this dish first time even though it is a familiar dish to all South India

Trying something new is good always, especially on food items.
Today I had the left over batter of Dosa I thought to try something different rather than making the same dosa like yesterday as breakfast. ‘Uthappam’ which is making just like dosa then spreading sliced different vegetables (onion, tomato, ginger, green chilly etc) on top the same then adding little bit of ghee.
It turned out well. So I made some more and kept for children so that they will be happy to see the different variety after coming from the school.
Do you experiment new dishes on every day?

This is the first time I've seen this dish, I can't guess about the taste though.

Good to know that. I never made this dish before and what I do every time, one day I make dosa and next day make iddly so the batter will be over by this way. If there is excess then I make iddly and keep it in fridge or keep the left over batter in fridge.
No, I haven'd added carrot as I took the decision in morning itself and there was no carrot available with me.

My wife knows how to cook it although she never learned it making from any South Indian. In fact, she makes it in her own way which tastes even better than its original version (sorry for saying that). My wife cooks it as and when she feels little lazy and not feeling like cooking our regular dishes. South Indian dishes are really easy to cook.

It looks nice. Sometimes we experiment with new dishes. If I see something interesting online or in a magazine I save the recipe. It is interesting to try new dishes. Sometimes the food is very delicious and sometimes we don't like it, but it is still interesting to try it.

@Sreekala I agree. It is worth trying new things. Sometimes we get very positively surprised when we try a new recipe. Sometimes my husband and I disagree about a new recipe. We tried a dish from Argentina, I don't remember the name, but I really liked it. My husband didn't like it all.

@Shivram59 Then you are qualified to make this one too. Just make the dosa, then spread all those finely chopped veggies (onion, green chilly, ginger, tomato, carrot etc) on top of it and sprinkle some ghee then turn it when top portion got cooked, your dish is ready......

Have you heard about Dosa and Idly, South Indian recipes? This making by soaking raw rice and gram then grind it finely then keep the same for fermenting over night. In morning batter is ready for dosa or iddly and you can make it pouring over in a pan or iddly maker.
