Marvel announced that they will adapt their first Asian Superhero in the Cinematic Universe. Shang-Chi.
Shang-chi is a superhero from Marvel comics who became famous around 1970's to 1980's. He is a superhero with no powers but he is so good in Martials he can beat a supervillain with powers with his bare hands.
They are now having open auditions for actors who wants to play him. The actor who should play him should be of Chinese descent. He can be Chinese or Chinese American... Most likely they might cast a Chinese American since it's an English language movie.
Recently Marvel made changes with him, They gave him super powers. He can do Kage-bunshin in the comics now.
I hope Hollywood won't repeat what they did to Son Goku.
August 2018 had proven Asian actors can draw and sell tickets. So please Disney, do not whitewash this character.

I agree, they should keep the character true to form by casting the proper person, hopefully of Asian decent. But I must say, I would be more inclined to go see the movie if Scarlett Johansson was cast as a sexy and seductive character in the movie! haha

As long as she is not playing Asian roles, I wont have issues with her. Although I heard her dream role now is Rosa Parks.

As long as the producer who will make this movie is not racist. I remember there was a live action series titled Generation X, its about the teenage members of X-men. They casted a white woman to play Jubilee.

They are most likely to cast a guy on his early 20's to 30's. At least Scarjo is out of the equation since she is going to have a solo Black Widow movie.

I agree. We (my twins and I) love the Marvel movies, but we refuse to go to the ones that remove traditional characters and replace them with well, vanilla actors.

They can cast a complete unknown then have big stars play his villains if they like. I think they might cast a complete unknown for the role. 2022 is the target date.
