I need more than a doggy ladder to get into bed

This is our new memory foam mattress we got ourselves for Christmas and for our backs. It takes up to 72 hours to open up fully but we may be sleeping on it tonight which will be about 32 hours after it was taken from the box
It wasn't supposed to get here until today from Amazon. The box was only 4 ft high by 2 or so from square. My husband husband's was sure that I ordered a twin not a queen. And even after we pulled it from the box it looking to small it wasn't until we got it into our bed that we discovered it was folded in half twice.
It must go under a type of roller to squish it down for delivery and get it into a manageable box.
By last night it was already up to the 12 inches width. There's only one corner that hasn't come up completely but my husband laughed and said it was okay as that's the side that's missing the lower leg.
My husband's can sleep good in the recliner for three or so hours straight but says that's not a place to sleep all night long.
My daughter bought this brand two weeks ago and loves it and she's used a memory foam mattress before but her sister is using her older one.
Btw, it's on the springs which were keeping and the old mattress which is going to the road later, so no ladder will actually be needed.
Have you ever thought to try one of these?

I'm hoping so. Did you wait more than one day after having it unfolded before sleeping on it?

@MarshaMusselman Yes around a day and a half was enough for me it was a twin.

@Courage7 How deep is yours? I got a 12 inch which is what my daughter got. I'm hoping I shouldn't have gotten the next size down. I sat on the section where my pillow will go while wrapping gifts and it went down quite far. Course, sitting on it is more weight in that one spot than it will be when just my head is there. I'm hoping I won't feel like I'm rolling off the bed. Time will tell, or tonight will.

It's a normal height now. Our employee dragged the old mattress to the garage until trash day and then I'll drag it to the road.
We kept the new one on the old one just in case. Most of the reviews were five starts but supposedly one person got one that had a smell and I wanted to be sure ours was fine before throwing the old one away.
There was no smell with ours, so all is good there.

@responsiveme You must have a phone like mine that enjoys changing your words for what it thinks more appropriate, lol. I'm guessing that 'side' was supposed to be 'good'. I wish my readers would tell me when my text is wonky. By the time I notice it I've no idea what some of it was supposed to be.

@LadyDuck I was given exercises by my chiropractor to do but my husband has been staying in bed longer than me and then I forget to go back in there to do them once he gets up.

Beds only began bothering me in the last few years. Limping because of issues with my knee before surgery began the problems and then compensating when my wound was the worst didn't help my back at all. I'm hoping this mattress will help my back heal quicker along with going to the chiropractor.

It's a firm one. My kids have bad backs too and they love it. My daughter's put on weight since being married and has an issue with her tailbone and under her neck and she's sleeping very well with her new mattress.
I plan on doing a review here once we've slept on it for two weeks so you all will know.

@just4him My back's been bad since before I had my first knee replaced and then when limping around from the wound. Over-compensating is the pits. I bought some icy hot in a small squirt bottle an put some on my back last night. It worked wonders. I decided to put it on again this morning rather than waiting until I could barely walk and it's been nice today as I've been able to do more without my back stopping me.
Have you ever tried anything like this?

Is that the type that you can raise or lower on either side or something else? I've thought about those before, but that's not in our budget at present.

@Dena91 Once everything else gets paid that one might be good to elevate one's feet or the head if wanting to read more comfortable before sleep, but this one may last long enough for me I won't need anotehr and I can elevat my head or feet other ways instead.

@MarshaMusselman Yes it is one of those beds which raises your head/feet on either side. Way out of our budget too. But like everything, eventually the prices will come down to where we can consider buying one.

You don't want to sleep on that one too long as it could be bad on your back or body over time unless you're still on the young side. I don't think beds bothered me as much before I turned 45 or so.

@Nevena83 I totally understand. I had a bed that was well over fifteen years old and lumpy. My sister upgraded and gave us what she had which was newer than what we had. But when your back already hhurts from other things the bed can make it worse. It was a nice change the first year but we needed a change. If I didn't have extra money from my mom this year we would have had to wait too.
Having this type of bed is supposed to be less noisy, but we're using a normal box spring. Maybe another year we can invest in thee type of frame made for these mattresses, or we'll just have to keep the one we have longer.

@MarshaMusselman You're right. I sleep on a mattress that's over 30 years old and I wake up very tired. But I just can not buy another.

I'd try one out - never actually seen one outside reviews and reports though

I think the one that is still in the house is over ten years old, but maybe not quite that old since I know she didn't buy it when she was still in school.
Once we've used it a week, maybe I'll give a review. And I'm hoping that both our backs will heal up a bit after sleeping on it a month.

This will be my first one although my one daughter bought hers a few years ago. She recently bought a new king sized bed and got a memory foam mattress for that.

Liking it thus far. Now that the mattress is in the garage until big trash day, I can again sit on the side, no ladder necessary.

Would you have to use a step stool even if you didn't have the pillow-top type? I had one of those with my king I think, but I am or used to be tall so it wasn't a bother to me.
