Spend While We Can?

My preparation for the gifts I will be giving to children in my list turned out well but I experienced minor tiredness because I need to go shopping at mall. It was a relief to complete it yesterday. I was planning that ahead of time and the original plan was to buy it online so that no more hassle going to shops at this busy time but the shipping fee is not lumped. Instead, they’re imposing separate shipping for each item as I have mentioned in my previous post. It hurts on my budget so it was not pushed through. It is noticeable (not surprising) how the prices of toys and other items increased compared to last year but no way to turned back because you need to make it through. No more complaining and just spend what I can. I think, this time the prices of fruits will be rising also aside from the usual. Vendors knew that people would spend their money for these items so it is expected that they would marked it up higher than the average. Here, it is a tradition to some if not all to have 13 kinds of fruits prepared for New Year and it is a good way for vendors to earn more money at least for this time. Last year, grapes were sold 300-350 Php per kilo (about 7 USD) but on December 31st last year, it was sold 500-600. That was almost double. It’s likely the same for this year. I am considerate with the carolers and yes, you are right that most sellers are taking advantage for it knowing the fact that people would buy even to which that cannot be eaten yet because of the tradition.

Even nephyte "parking boys" are popping up everywhere to collect some sort of "tong" without doing anything except stretch out their hand to collect once you get into your car.

@sunrisefan the gap in prices of leche flan and ube halaya (purple yam) here are unbelievable. the exact same item can cost 85 in one corner then 110 in another corner!

I think we need to grow more trees to be able to meet the demand.

@ZedSmart yes you are absolutely right, fruit farmers have to plant more than this, so that all their needs are met

It's not the case here, the price are monitored by the authorities to avoid that the supermarkets raise the prices for the holidays.

Most sellers are taking advantage especially those who are just displaying at the side walks.
