Living The Nomadic Life

Once again, it has been a while since I have been on this site. I do enjoy the interactions with others and miss when I'm not on here. Life has become an exciting adventure. I am finally living as a full time nomad. My home is my van and my backyard is wherever I find beauty and inspiration. It has taken me a little while to set up mobile wifi but I now have that. Of course it depends on getting a cell signal, but I do try to camp only in places where I can connect. Right now I am spending the winter in the Arizona Desert with other nomads who flock here for the winter. The weather is perfect with temps in the 70's during the day and the desert is just beautiful! The landscape changes depending on where you go, but the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular! No where else in this country have I seen colors as bright as the ones here in the desert. I hope to continue updating and sharing my adventures on the road with you.

I am very jealous of your nomadic life! My goal is to someday soon be able to do the exact same thing you are doing! I have about 3-4 years left before my kids are fully grown and out of the house, and at that point I can make decisions about what I want to do at that point. I have three big goals: 1. Walk the entire coastline of Florida, to see each and every beach and barrier island that the state has to offer. 2. Hike the big 3 trails in the US: Appalachian Trail, Continental Divide trail, and the Pacific Coast trail. 3. Travel the country freely without any specific itinerary in mind. Basically, going wherever my heart desires me to go at the time.

@MistyckMoon Oh that's awesome that you have the same goal as I do! I wouldn't mind hiking the John Muir trail as well. I'm sure there are a lot of smaller trails around the country that I would enjoy hiking.

@moffittjc Yes there is so many! Right now I just take short hikes around wherever I am camping. Most places have awesome trails. I need to work myself up to hiking longer trails.

Now that I am living my dream, I also have a goal to hike those same trails plus the John Muir trail as well. It may take me a few years to accomplish this so perhaps we will meet up in the future and accomplish at least one of these goals.

@MistyckMoon Yes they are. You are doing what others cannot or will not try to do.

@Courage7 I believe anyone with enough desire can live this lifestyle. I am doing it in a fixed income and I have met nomads in wheelchairs living this life. The right time never comes, it just has to be taken by stepping away from the fear of "what ifs" and the anxiety of going out into the unknown.

Sounds like an interesting life. I have always wanted to buy an RV and just travel to wherever. Not quite there yet, but who knows? Maybe someday.

That's amazing, me and my husband did that for awhile then our van broke down and didn't have the money to fix..we took a break from it but never got another van.. but we did have a truck. So we built a camper on the bed and it has everything the van had. Enjoy your wonderful trips and sites you will see.
