the most popular south east Asian fruit is of course “Durian”. what the heck, i hated it so much when i was kid, but i turn to be big fan of it now. many westerner don't like the smell, they say it is stinky. but trust me, it is so yummy to eat. people in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand also eat Durian, but in Singapore, bringing Durian in public transportation is forbidden. “literally Durian means thorny, it is derived from word “Duri”, it is thorn. many people say that Durian is the king of tropical fruit.

The first time I was introduced to it I wouldn't go near it. But once I tasted it, I loved it. Here it is very hard to find and it is very expensive.

it is expensive as compared to other fruits in here. some species like musang king is very expensive, 500,000 rupiah per pieces, around 3 kg. that is almost 35 dollars

There are a lot of variation.
A few popular one in my country are Musang King and D24. Both of them are thick and creamy texture with a consistent bittersweet taste. The former is more expensive than the latter.
If someone dislike the strong smell, you can try durian paste which are available in some supermarkets and local traditional souvenir shop. The just mix a portion of the durian to the sticky rice.
