Weird Word Wednesday- Fabulist

Fabulist is a new word to me. I like it.
It's easy for me to see the connection between the word and its definition.
The beginning of the word (fab) makes me think of "fabricate", which means to make up a story. I also thought of "fabulous", which is sometimes defined as incredible or exaggerated.
It's difficult for me to comprehend how some people can be compulsive liars! It's not uncommon though.
Have you had to live or work with a fabulist? I have. It was very frustrating and stressful at times.

I didn't know this word, but one of my ex-boyfriends was a fabulist. One time he called me and said: "I am at the hospital" Normally my reaction would have been: "Oh no, what is wrong" but when he said it I just thought: "Is it true or not? No, it is probably just another story" It WAS true, but I was so used to his stories that I didn't believe him anymore.

@BloggerDi Yes, that is the problem. When they finally tell the truth people don't believe them. My ex lied about small things and big things and after some time I didn't believe him anymore.

Thanks for telling about that incident @Porcospino. Yes, eventually liars must accept that their history of deceit makes people doubt everything they say, whether true or not!

I married one but thank God he's a very, very different man now since giving his life to the Lord.
