Tea Snobbery Top Ten: Cinnamon (#8)

Hey, what happened? It was warm yesterday, now it’s cold! The temperature fell so fast yesterday that standing by a bank thermometer was like that “arriving at gate” scene in Airplane!: “it’s 50, no, 49, 48, 47, 46.....” Cold weather is a good excuse for hot tea. And here’s today’s tea flavor. #8: Cinnamon I have two kinds of cinnamon tea for me, depending on the time of day. As it’s just after noon as I’m typing this I’m drinking Bigelow’s Cinnamon Stick, another one of their readily-available tea flavors. It’s not an overpowering cinnamon flavor (like a Red Hot), but there’s a definite hint and smell of cinnamon that makes it a great winter tea. Then, in the evening, there’s an herbal cinnamon tea to turn to. The herbal teas do have a stronger flavor (but still not overpowering: don’t think these teas taste like cinnamon candies). The “sweet cinnamon” flavors (I like Kroger’s “Private Selection” brand) do have a sweet flavor that seems enhanced if you add a “regular” amount of sweetener. Both are great for the cooler weather!
