A special entree for New Year's Eve

We welcomed in the New Year with seven friends. We all stayed in one lovely big house and shared lots of fun and laughter. We’re all getting older so to help pass the time till midnight on New Year’s Eve we spaced out our evening meal. We had nibbles around 6pm, then entrée about 7.30pm, our main course about 10.00pm and dessert at 11.
Each couple was responsible for one of the courses. Vince and I had chosen to do the entrée which consisted of three separate dishes. We had tiny pancakes topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers, then prawns wrapped in bacon and puff pastry and baked in a hot oven. The last offering had camembert cheese in the middle of a round of puff pastry which had been spread with mustard then had slices of prosciutto laid on with more puff pastry over the top.
The camembert formed the hub of a wheel. The pastry was then cut from the centre to the outside and each ‘spoke’ twisted. It was then baked. To eat it, you broke off a spoke and dipped it in the hot camembert. Although it was a bit tricky to make it looked fantastic and everyone voted it a great success.

@playertwo I´m past doing that kind of work. But I would not mind being invited to eat it.

One of the great way to welcome the New Year. And your entrees are all good. Who wants to sleep if these foods are lining up to come.

We spread out the courses so we'd be able to stay awake till midnight. Most of us usually go to bed much earlier than that.

It's nice when something looks a bit special or as if you've taken a lot of trouble.
