The vendor called it “chocolate fruit”. At first, I was hesitant to buy it together with other fruits that traditionally prepared at home upon welcoming the New Year
. I’m really sorry for my ignorance because for the longest time, it was the first that I see the fruit sold in my place. Out of curiosity, I bought the fruit.
I didn’t get a chance to Google it because I was that busy that time. Today, I noticed that it’s already ripe and I am wondering if we would eat it or just let it rot there. And because it’s now easy to find information in the Internet, I’ve learned that it is called Black Sapote a species of persimmon and known also as the chocolate pudding fruit which is native to eastern Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Colombia according to Wikipedia. It is also cultivated in other parts of the world including my country the Philippines.
It is said that it can be eaten when ripe so I’ve tasted the fruits but I can’t distinguish how can I compared it with other fruits. It’s soft but bland and I would not just eat it that way so I scooped the fruit from it skin and add some all purpose cream and milk and whisked it and the taste turned better and I think that it taste like avocado when incorporated to other ingredients that I used.

I have never heard of it. It doesn't look very good but I would be willing to give it a try.

@Mavic123456 Yes, it's not chocolatey because it's just bland. They just perhaps referring it because of the color.
