And Folks, I Hope You Never Experience That One, and Another Music Group

I wasn't sure what I was going to have to do just a few minutes ago, but thankfully, it's already moved on and hopefully not to aggravate someone else instead. But, I don't think that's how it works.
Have you ever had a ringing in your ears? It can be quite common and it has a name, which eludes me at present. Tinnitis, that's what it's called. I remembered when answering my first responder, for some reason. (I just checked and it has three main causes one of which is age-related hearing loss. Just lovely).
Well, some years ago what I had was I could hear my heartbeat/pulse in or from my right ear and it was so loud that I had a hard time concentrating. I think I wrote about that before when it happened. I was afflicted with that for possibly a few to six months time, maybe longer maybe not.
Just a few minutes ago, though, I heard a ringing in that same ear, and then it sounded like a semi truck drove right inside my ear. It was sort of like I heard a vibration of the truck idling and there was nothing like that right outside my house. It lasted maybe about five minutes and left as quickly as it came. I also no longer have the ringing.
I know that I have a bit of wax in both ears and maybe it's related to that but I've no clue. I plan on having my ears irrigated when I see my doctor for my wellness check this month.
Edited: Later in the day I discovered that the old mattress we put out to the road was picked up and I'm guessing the noise I heard was two of the trucks idling right beyond my site in front of the driveway to our house. Why it sounded like they were inside my one ear, I don't know. But, at least I now know it was related to those trucks and not out of the blue.
For my music selection today, I thought I'd share a link to one of my favorite bands back when I was nineteen or thereabouts. I know that many enjoyed their music too, but who all here remains to be seen.

This song and Nights in White Satin were my favorites, although I enjoyed most of their songs.

@DianneN It's better to get a laugh from it than worry. it quite right away too. It was the oddest thing. Maybe I'm plugged up more than it feels like. Usually, there's no doubt about whether or not one is plugged up. I'll be talking my doctor's ear off, lol.

I've had something similar to vertigo before, but possibly not exactly that. Mine only comes very periodically and it's usually when I'm at the library in the stack or it happened once while shopping. I know it can be very debilitating. I know it's related to inner ear problems that affect balance, but you can't feel it in your ears, I hope when you're being hit with it?
I had the oddest sensation a bit ago while I was going to take a short nap. It sounded like a faucet dripping, but the sound didn't come from my ears, but sounded like I could hear it from the roof of my mouth/throat. It made me laugh which helped me be less sleepy.

@MarshaMusselman Yes, vertigo comes from the inner ear. Even if it came from my big toe, it was awful. Now I get out of bed slowly, just in case.
Yikes! Only you could laugh at that!

@MarshaMusselman I hope that cleaning your ears from the wax will solve the problem.

Come to find out there was a couple of larger trucks outside about that time picking up my used mattress. I'm guessing somehow the sound of the trucks idling transferred to sounding like it was coming from inside my ear.
I expect that once I get the wax out it will not affect me any more.

My ears use to ring all the time as a kid from the ear infections I had chronically. The ringing was caused by the fluid in my ears. They don't ring much anymore but when they do it's usually when I have a cold or allergies and I just know there must be fluid backed up in my ears.
My boyfriend works in a machine shop and has for years. When he was young he was on the floor as a shop worker and it is very loud. He has tinnitis from it.

So do you think the ringing you both have experienced is different? I realize the cause is different, but I'd think the symptoms might be the same.
I have an appointment with my doctor so I can return to work on the 20th and will get my ears irrigated then. I will ask whether the wax buildup might cause the extra sounds or not.
I also wanted to tell you that I put some mederma on both legs this morning and it's already been about half an hour and my legs are still oily, or at least they look that way. It's called quick dry oil, but maybe it's mainly best when the area of the body it's used on isn't covered by clothing? Someone else suggested lavender essential oils on the wound which I wasn't going to do, but may try now that the wound is healed.
I use other essential oils while working and while that area of the body is open to the air, it doesn't seem to leave the oily residue, so we'll see whether it does or whether it even helps. Otherwise, it's back to my moisturizer which has Vit E, aloe and sees to help.

@MarshaMusselman my boyfriends ears ringing is due to hearing damage but mine was just temporary when fluid builds up in there. It was so constant when I was young I just thought it was normal until it stopped then I realized I could hear better and there was no ringing.
I never used the maderma quick dry roll. Never heard of it. Mine was just in a tube that you squeezed out like Neosporin but a thinner and not oily consistency. It definitely sounds like what you are using is different then I used 14+ years ago.

When I see the doctor later in the month, I'll try to remember to talk to him again about it. It hasn't happened for a few years now, so unless I begin hearing it more and more, I'm not too concerned.
It looks like it may also be related to age-related hearing loss. And you and I both fit in the 'age-related' designation whether our hearing loss is minimal or what.

Hmm, I wonder how much allergies might come into play. That would be a good survey which I can't do here. I do have allergies, but when mine are bad I get sinus headaches. The ringing or noises aren't those same times, so I'm leaning toward it being age-related hearing loss of some type.

By now you've probably learned to ignore it mostly? When I was hearing the heartbeat I was able to ignore it most of the time unless it got extra loud.
It turns out the big trash trucks did come today and that could possibly be what I was hearing, although I did look out the window at the time. I don't know why it sounded like it was inside my ear unless that was an effect of the wax inside them.

@MarshaMusselman That could be. Yes, I do ignore it most of the time. The sound will change just before it starts ringing.

If it's not long-lasting it can be manageable. When it lasts a long time, then it's worse. I wasn't sure if laying down would make it stop, but didn't have to figure that out. It's still gone, so that's good.

@MarshaMusselman i panic too when it happens. i too am not sure whether to lay down because sometimes that makes it worse because of my breathing. glad it did not last this time.
