Rapunzel, your hair needs care.

This discussion was requested by @shaggin and @JudyEv. Back in the days of yore , hair care was a serious business when we went to our grandmother's on vacations. Soapnuts/Reetha were soaked in water and left overnight. Next day ,coconut oil would be warmed and all the cousins would have their heads oiled and massaged by the aunts in general and whoever was available . (This was a wriggling sort of time for the kids as we wanted to go and continue our games.) After a couple of hours ,we would be called back. This time there were towels dipped in hot water and wrung dry. The wet towel would be wrapped around our heads like a turban. When the towel lost it's warmth, the process was repeated. This allowed the oil to go down deep into the roots. Next the soapy water with the soaked reetha would be used to wash the hair .When dried the hair would come out soft ,silky and squeaky clean. Next was a hot lunch followed by a long afternoon nap where for once we just dropped off to sleep without our usual protests. Fast forward to recent years. No more time for those long leisurely hair care routine. And the same has been replaced by hair spas in salons. Photo...Free image downloaded

Now we look back at those wonderful memories ,how they used to spend so much time on us. At that time we were more interested in running around and not sitting still to have our hair massaged

@responsiveme I may try it myself it sounds like it would be healthy for my hair. Maybe something @Courtlynn may be interested in as well since she's my curly haired buddy I do have coconut oil! I don't know what Soapnuts/Reetha is though I'll have to look that up.

While they used to use coconut oil, you can also use different oil like olive and castor. Then use that towel for letting the oil penetrate deep. I think I will do it this weekend.

That sounds like a lot of work for the aunts. Rapunzel, that's the name I've thought of when I've heard rumplestiltskin. I guess I mixed those two characters up. I feel better now that I know one did have the longer hair.

@responsiveme I'm watching a series called once upon a time. It was seven seasons and may still be ongoing. Rumplestiltskin is in it but not Rapunzel. Or at least not yet.

The aunts simply had a good chat and gossip session ...On the whole it was family time. Those times are gone now, I don't see youngsters sitting down to get their hair oiled etc Rapunzal had long long hair while Rumpelstiltskin was the one who taught the Miller's daughter to spin gold out of straw and then when the king married her wanted her first born in exchange . As I type this I see in my mind's eye the pictures from my fairy tale books.

I'm afraid to respond to this discussion, since it meant for two fellow myLotters. I do get my treatments in my hair salon and do deep treatments in-between at home.

No ,it's not them only. Will edit that sentence. They asked me to do this as a discussion when we were chatting. A salon spa is the modern version of that turban therapy. It does make the hair glisten

@rebelann coconut oil is very good. An occasional oil massage if not everyday does make a difference to the skin . For hair try turban therapy

She can make her long plaited hair into a lasso and can swing it up to you,you catch it and come down swinging like Tarzan. Don't worry,I am sure the princess will find a way to get her prince...Women are very resourceful
