I recently heard on news that according to a study presented last week in Norway, the Mediterranean diet can save us and our planet
The current consumption model is insustainable. The overall goal is to double the consumption of fruits, vegetables and nuts and reduce by half the intake of sugar and red meat.
The idea is that the agricultural and livestock sectors stop emitting carbon dioxide, which is higher than that emitted by all the cars of the planet
Were you aware of this?
I follow the Mediterranean diet and I usually only eat meat 2-3 times a week, my family produce our own vegetables and we have many fruit trees.
Do you follow the Mediterranean diet?

@nela13 It takes a lot of courage. self-control and willpower to eat the foods that are best for our health. This world makes so much junk food and they make it taste so good that we have hard time limiting those foods to only some occasions.

@1hopefulman junk and processed food is very bad for us. I avoid it as much as I can.

@nela13 it really is not good for us. I do think most of us need a little but a little is already in things like bread etc so we need to try to cut back as much as we can on things we know have more sugar in them. That is awesome you have cut it out from your diet so much! That can be very hard to do.

you're lucky you have your own land to grow your own vegetables and fruits. not everyone has and those who do have sold it or been bought out and are now cemented over.

@nela13 that's why some are growing herbs even in apartments, while some are into hydroponics.

@hereandthere yes, a lot of people do that here too, it is a way of having our own things.

I've been following the Whole30/Paleo diet for the past year plus. I read about the carbon dioxide emitted by cattle. There is a huge difference between the carbon dioxide emitted by cattle and that produced by chemicals in our industries. What cattle emit is not dangerous to the planet.
I'll look at the Mediterranean Diet and see if it works for me. So far, I'm gotten good results from Whole30 having lost 37 pounds in one year.
