That was a success then!

As I mentioned the other day, I bought some Seville oranges and at the weekend I made them into marmalade. I made 19 jars and I thought that would probably last me a couple of years. On Monday I was telling a friend the story of the oranges so I gave her a jar of marmalade. Today when I popped round she told me it was the tastiest marmalade she ever tried – and then she showed me the empty jar, she had eaten the lot already! I am under orders not to give her any more as she daren’t have it in the house in case she scoffs the lot. I think I will save a couple of jars for her birthday! As you can see the jar in the image is from the last batch I made, two years ago. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2019.

@Fleura Ha, Ha, that would be confusing I've only ever made grapefruit marmalade.

I try to save the jars with pretty lids, but then of course I have to use them for the right things, I get annoyed if I have to put strawberry jam in the jar with oranges on the lid!

Your marmalade looks great, perfect colour. I had pears that were becoming over ripe and I made a jam yesterday, it looks good.

Thank you! It's very satisfying to see those jars glowing on the shelf isn't it?

Me neither, I thought it was hilarious! I mean I like marmalade otherwise I wouldn't make it, but it does make me feel as though my teeth are dissolving. Having said that, I used to make it as a student and one friend, originally from Hong Kong, used to eat it out of the jar with a spoon!

@Fleura That is something I could not do is eat it straight from the jar with a spoon! Same goes for jam

It has to be the right sort, made with Seville oranges, anything else is too sweet.
