am i odd, because i never want my children to leave? i think since i have been a single mom since17 and have always had to put them first, and have not had good luck with relationships that i feel scared,my youngest is 12, my middle 15, my oldest is n her own, her choice she i 21, i just get so nervous thinking about them not home anymore, while most can not wait till their children leave home, i literally cry thinking of it, I really do not know why, maybe from being both mom and dad i even have problems with wanting them to go almost every where with me, idk,,??/

i think it is normal to feel that way. you're a mother. but they have to find themselves too.

My mom was very sad too if I go. She always want me to come home. And even if I go to a college in other city she doesn't want that city too be too far from my hometown. So I think it's good thing you care about your children like that. Don't get discouraged.

I think a lot of parents feel this way. Many are scared and not know what they will do or think when there are no longer any kids in the house. Some want to always be the protector. Around here the issue is Cost to rent something as well causes worry. Just remember no matter what they want to do in life, never hold them back if it is going to be Good for them.

I feel that way more about my younger daughter because she's still very dependent. She's 18 and still has me open her soda, etc for her. She won't fix her own food.Even something as simple as a bowl of cereal. She'll say "I'm hungry", I make suggestions to her like "fry an egg". But nope she'll sit around starving until I do it for her. If I don't tell her to take care of herself she won't do it. She is autistic so maybe that has something to do with it. Idk for sure. Her older sis left home at 18 also by choice, but she's very independent

Its different when your a single mom, when your kids start to leave your alone and you haven't been that in a long time. I understand as I raised 3 by myself and never wanted them to go but, you get kind of used to it after a while but its not easy.
