Previously on channel 3 we asked would a merger of AWS (Amazon) and IBM make sense. Now let's look at the other side of the market and consider a merger of Microsoft and IBM (which by the way could have happened many years ago but didn't." What do you think would such a merger make sense?

Apple and IBM could successfully merge, not Microsoft and IBM. For what I know IBM bought Red Hat for $34 Billion, so they surely have no intention to merge with Microsoft.

IBM struggles in the software world. The other side of them buying redhat is they sold off the remainder of the Lotus Software they purchased 15 years ago. Plus based on market and cash IBM wouldn't buy Microsoft. Microsoft would buy IBM.

@DocAndersen I liked a lot Lotus Software, better than most of those that followed. It's a shame it was abandoned.

@LadyDuck It was sold, at least of it was. Ami pro was the prize but wordprocessors don't make money. Lotus Dominio (ne Lotus Notes) was good but didn't evolve after IBM bought Lotus.
